Lee Cotton Cup 2018

Tuesday saw ProCo hold its annual 5 aside footie event, The Lee Cotton Cup at Goals in Sheffield.

This year we made it a staff only event with ProCo staff bringing along their children and better halves for a bit of a kick about, and a royal time was had by all.  The sun shone (a little too much in the eyes of goalies and penalty takers), and the BBQ sizzled. Half time saw a penalty shoot-out for under 12’s and over 12’s, won by Master Cole Braithwaite and Graeme ‘Pazza’ Parry respectively.

Team 1 consisting of Steve Wells, Paul Kelsall, Paul Cummings, Craig Patterson and Robert Moss (an obvious ringer, poached from either Wednesday or United)  won the event and collected the Lee Cotton trophy for 2018.  Other awards went to Paul Kelsall for Most Unbelievable Geoff of the Night… and Paul Cummings walked off with the Peoples Choice for Entertainment, which apart from deft footwork, was also for downing two pints at half time!  Simon Heywood also received an impromptu award for commitment – after playing non-stop and then acting as keeper for the penalty shootout competition until his legs finally gave way, bravo Simon, top effort!

Thanks to a raffle with prizes very generously donated by our customer adidas, we raised £150 for the Western Park Cancer Charity which rounded off a brilliant event with a great turnout.

But judging by the number of complaints the following morning about sore legs and too many stairs to climb, we think it’s safe to say, we shouldn’t give up our day job!

Bring on 2019!
